With its quiet cabin, beautiful styling, and efficient powertrain, the Toyota Sequoia has gradually bridged the gap with its competitors. So, if you are looking to splurge on a family car, a look at the key features of this car will help you make the correct purchase decision.

Its higher towing capacity and features make the vehicle a perfect blend of capability and value for money. The car comes in five trims: SR5, Limited, Platinum, Capstone, and TRD Pro. Its noteworthy features are:

Exterior styling

The exterior of this large SUV is a streamlined interface, with a broad mesh grille on the front and split LED headlights. The front fenders are massive, which helps in giving the SUV a muscular look. There are also roof rails and chrome window trims to make the vehicle look sophisticated. The rear has wrap-around tail lights along with an integrated roof spoiler.

There are wide doors for easy access, and standard 18 or 20-inch alloy wheels are used.

Interior styling

On the inside, you get a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system. However, the base trim, i.e., the SR5, comes with an 8-inch touchscreen. The infotainment display, used for navigation and multimedia, is flanked by vents on both sides, along with climate control, towing, and drive-mode selection buttons. The interiors are enhanced by leather upholstery and wooden or chrome accents as you go up the price ladder.

Performance

The Toyota Sequoia features a responsive 3.4-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine that can handle both its towing and off-roading capabilities. With an output of 437 hp and torque of 583 lb-ft, it can go from 0 to 60 mph in just six seconds. It emits limited engine noise and comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Also, the front suspension remains independent with an available air-suspension system to ensure that the handling remains straightforward. Rear-wheel drive is standard on all the trim models with an optional 4WD functionality. However, 4WD is standard on the higher-end TRD Pro trim variant.

Comfort

The Toyota Sequoia has three rows of passenger seats, with the total passenger capacity being eight. The seats are comfy, and there is enough headroom to fit at least four adults and a couple of kids. The higher-end trims also come with second-row seats supporting heating and cooling features.

Technology

Besides the 8-inch or 14-inch infotainment system, the Toyota Sequoia also features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with standard features such as power-adjustable and heated front seats and a panoramic sunroof. The car also supports a surround-view camera system, wireless smartphone connectivity, music streaming options, and a premium stereo system.

Storage

The Sequoia has a standard cargo space of 11.5 cubic feet. However, folding the third-row seat can increase the space to 49.0 cubic feet. When you fold the second-row seat, the space can further increase to 86.9 cubic feet.

Fuel economy

According to the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), the Toyota Sequoia provides a combined (city and highway) fuel economy of 22 mpg on rear-wheel drive. If you are using 4WD, then the combined economy will be 20 mpg.

Safety

Although the Sequoia lacks any crash test ratings, Toyota has equipped the vehicle with essential safety features like automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beam, active lane control, blind-spot monitors, and rear and front parking assists.
